Dr. Melkonian specializes in laparoscopic obesity surgery and advanced laparoscopic surgery. He completed a Fellowship in Minimally Invasive Laparoscopic Surgery at the Milton S. Hershey Medical Center of Pennsylvania State University. Dr. Melkonian earned his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin-Madison before going on to complete his residency at Pennsylvania State University. He is a member of several medical organizations, including the American Society for Bariatric Surgery, the North Carolina Medical Society, and the Mecklenburg County Medical Society.
