Dr. Gersin acts as Chief of Bariatric Surgery for the Carolinas Medical Center. He specializes in laparoscopic approaches to bariatric surgery. Dr. Gersin received his medical degree from Georgetown University. He completed his residency at Berkshire Medical Center in Massachusetts before going on to a Fellowship in Laparoendoscopic Surgery at the Cleveland Clinic. Dr. Gersin is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons as well as a member of the American Society for Bariatric Surgery. In addition to his membership within the Society of American Gastrointestinal and Endoscopic Surgeons, he also serves as a faculty member for the SAGES Resident Workshop at the EndoSurgery Institute in Cincinnati.
